Welcome to Worship at the Gathering!

We are a gathering of people, just like you, looking to connect with the Father, to honor His Word and to live a life of compassion and gratitude for who He is and what God has done for us.  Whether you are new to church, looking for a fresh start, or searching for God this season we invite you to join us on Sundays for authentic connection, compassion and community.  We desire to brush close to the Savior through powerful teaching, reading of The Word and extravagant times of worship.  Come, we've saved a spot for you!

Volunteers:  The Gathering worship ministry is made up of an amazing team of volunteers who give of their time, talents and abilities to serve God and to bring glory to His name alone!  The Worship Ministry includes creative arts such as: music, dance, drama, art, media arts to include graphics, video editing, camera operators, lighting designers, audio engineering etc.  If you are interested in being a part of the worship ministry, please contact the church office or e-mail the Director of Worship at (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)  

We hope that you joined us on Sunday, December 13th for an original stage play called, The Prophecy Fulfilled written by Alan Bomar Jones for the friends and family of The Gathering!    Sunday we traveled back through time to interact with two prophets, Anna and Simeon, from the first century, who were priviledged to meet the Promised One, the Messiah.  Their story, which is preserved for us in the New Testament book of Luke was brought to life through drama, music and dance. If you missed services on Sunday  be sure to order your DVD by calling the church office at 937-886-0737.          

Becky and Alan  Becky Barrett-Jones: Anna,  Alan Bomar Jones: Simeon  (If you missed it be sure to order your DVD of the entire service.)

Our featured actors are Alan Bomar Jones and his wife, Becky Barrett-Jones, who have been a part of the Gathering community for three years.  You've seen Alan on screen and live in person acting in several dramatic presentations.  And you can often find Becky singing on the Praise Team.  Alan Bomar Jones and wife, Becky Barrett-Jones bring to life the characters Anna and Simeon in the play "The Promise."

Becky is the owner of The Music in Me voice and piano studio and is the music director at Town Hall Theatre in Centerville, OH. Recent stage credits include Mama Noah in Children of Eden, Fanny Brice in Funny Girl, Gertrude in Seussical, and Tammy Faye in The Gospel According to Tammy Faye. She was also seen at LaComedia in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Show Boat and has performed at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, TN. Becky thanks God for the gift of music, her amazing actor/director husband, Alan Bomar Jones, and her supportive family and church family.

Alan is a proud member of The Gathering and is a professional regional theatre actor and resident artist with the Human Race Theatre Company.  Alan has appeared in over sixty professional theatrical shows, seven independent films and a few TV commercials.  His latest TV adventure to his credit is the latest kids show TV Pilot, Jakes Safari, which is being shown to TV networks for consideration.  Alan is probably most noteworthy for his role in the nationally syndicated show America’s Most Wanted portraying the fugitive, Robert Brent Black.  Alan has lent his voice to hundreds of radio and television commercials and has opened a voice-over studio in his home.  His most recent voice accomplishment has been a narrator of the book on CD entitled The Journey of T.D. Jakes for Brilliance Audio. Alan also coaches actors of all ages; preparing them for important auditions or performances.  He feels very blessed to be married to his talented, supportive wife, Becky Barrett-Jones, and loves performing with her.

Rachel  Rachel Cloys: Angel

Rachel brings to life the wonder and awe of an angelic encounter through the beauty of dance!  Rachel is a senior at Beavercreek High School, and a member of the Gathering.  She has been dancing since the age of 6 and has been part of competition dance teams in South Carolina, North Carolina and Ohio for the past ten years.  She has received numerous awards for her solos, duets and group numbers, which include Technical Excellence and two years as “Top Senior Soloist” from Creation Dance Championships.  She is currently a member of the Miami Valley Dance Center competition team in Fairborn, OH.  Her most memorable performance was as "Alice" in MVDC's award-winning production number Adventures in Wonderland.  She was a Russian dancer in The Moscow Ballet’s Nutcracker in Asheville, NC, and has danced for many community shows and year-end recitals throughout the years.  Rachel choreographed and performed in the Gathering’s Christmas program in 2007.  She’d like to thank her mom and dad for years of support and encouragement. 

Ben Ben Bolton: Joseph

Ben is the son of Hugh and Bonnie Bolton and is a sophomore at Dayton Christian Schools.  Ben is an avid athlete participating in football and basketball.  He has a true heart for God.  His life goals are to be a teacher and youth pastor.  This is Ben’s premier performance on stage at The Gathering performing as Joseph in an original stage play by Alan Bomar Jones.  Ben is thrilled to help out his church any way, in fact he volunteers in the nursery in our children’s ministry.  Ben is outgoing, fun-loving and is everyone’s friend.  He truly is a “people magnet”.  His collection of Nike shorts and shoes is renown in the Miami Valley and beyond.

Bekah  Bekah Jackson: Mary

Bekah is the daughter of John and Mindy Jackson. She graduated from Centerville High School in 2009 and is a freshman at Wright State University. Bekah loves singing, cooking and is excited to be a part of the celebration this year portraying Mary, mother of Jesus.  One of her favorite Christmas songs is sung by Christian artist, Joy Williams entitled, "Here With Us."  Bekah sang that for us Sunday for the drama, "The Prophecy Fulfilled."
